What is Ryubing?
Ryubing is a quality-of-life focused fork of Ryujinx, the Nintendo Switch emulator that was shut down following contact from Nintendo in October 2024. When Ryujinx’s official GitHub repository went dark, the emulation community created Ryubing as the most polished fork for existing Ryujinx users on Windows. As of v0.12.3+, Ryubing has been tested against approximately 4,300 Switch titles with over 3,550 considered fully playable.
System Requirements for Ryubing
Minimum (720p/30fps): Intel Core i5-8400 or Ryzen 5 2600, GTX 1060 or RX 580, 8GB RAM, Windows 10 64-bit, NVMe SSD recommended.
Recommended (4K/60fps): Intel i7-12700K or Ryzen 7 5800X, RTX 4070 or RX 7900 XT, 16-32GB RAM.
Step-by-Step Ryubing Setup on Windows
- Download Ryubing from its official GitHub releases page. Verify the SHA256 hash.
- Install Visual C++ Redistributables (x64) from Microsoft’s official website.
- Update your GPU drivers to the latest available version.
- In Ryubing, navigate to Tools > Install Firmware and select your firmware ZIP from your legally owned Switch dump.
- Navigate to Tools > Open Ryubing Folder > System > Keys and paste your prod.keys and title.keys files.
- Go to Options > Settings > User Interface > Game Directories. Click + and browse to your game backups folder.
- Set GPU API to Vulkan. Enable Shader Cache to reduce stutter in subsequent sessions.
Performance on PC (RTX 4070, Ryzen 7 5800X)
- Tears of the Kingdom: 55-60fps at 2x resolution (1440p), drops to 45fps in very dense areas
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: Locked 60fps at 3x resolution (4K)
- Smash Bros. Ultimate: Locked 60fps at 2x resolution
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons: Locked 60fps at 3x resolution
PC emulation consistently outperforms Android handhelds for demanding titles — the advantage of discrete GPU power over mobile chips is significant for computationally heavy Switch games.
